Qahwa is poured last, when the guests have stopped leaving and the conversation has gone somewhere better. That is the hour this is built around. Green cardamom over a dark roast, saffron in the pot, dates somewhere close by — sweet, but never dessert-sweet, because the coffee itself is bitter and the perfume keeps that. Rose sits in it the way rose water sits in the cup. Wear it after dark. It is not a daytime scent and does not pretend to be.
القهوة تنصب في آخر الليل، يوم يخفّ الكلام عن المغادرة ويصير الحديث أعمق وأجمل. وهذي هي اللحظة اللي بُني حولها العطر.
هيل أخضر فوق قهوة محمّصة بعمق، زعفران في الدلة، والتمر قريب. فيه حلاوة، لكنها ما توصل أبدًا لحلاوة الحلويات، لأن مرارة القهوة تظل واضحة، والعطر يحافظ عليها.
والورد موجود فيه مثل ما يدخل ماء الورد في الفنجان.
